The Story
Water is scarce and a family suffers if they are without water.
Water is becoming scarce in the rural areas because water sources like aquifers are drying-up due to the denudation of forest areas. One can imagine that for a family lacking water, cooking and washing will be difficult and hygiene suffers. Fetching water from a faraway source like a mountain spring is laborious and women and girls usually bear the burden of carrying the water. Water is indeed a human right and providing a family with water is imperative.
One source that can readily be tapped is rainwater.
The Philippines being a tropical country is blessed with so much rain; rain that can be harvested for use by the family. The problem is the need for galvanized iron and polyethylene pipes to catch water from the roof, as well as a simple filtration system so that the water is rendered safe for drinking and sanitary containers wherein to store the water. These facilities are difficult to procure by the poor and if we are able to provide these to them, this is indeed life-saving.
We aim to provide 150 families with 3 sets of water containers, pipes and sanitary water filters. Hoping for your generosity.
